Do These 5 Things Before Sleeping: Tips for a Better Night's Sleep
To improve your sleep quality, try eating a few hours before bedtime, taking a shower, burning an organic oil lamp, practicing a nightly yogic chant, and reminding yourself that you're not just your body. These tips can help eliminate negative thoughts from your bedtime routine and improve your overall well-being.

Do you ever wake up feeling bad for no reason? If this happens to you even a few times a year, it may be time to consider some changes to your bedtime routine. Unconsciously, you can incubate a lot of either negative or positive thoughts while you sleep. Incubating during the day is less efficient due to interruptions, but at night, uninterrupted sleep can be very effective in incubating your thoughts. If you go to bed in a certain way and wake up feeling bad for no reason, it's a sign that you're incubating negative thoughts efficiently at night. This can lead to not only psychological disturbances but also major physiological problems over time. Here are some tips to eliminate these negative thoughts from your life.

  • Eat a few hours before bedtime: If you eat meat and other heavy foods, make sure you eat at least three to four hours before going to bed. This will ensure that your digestion is complete before you go to bed.
  • Take a shower: Taking a shower before bedtime can make a big difference. In colder weather, lukewarm showers are recommended instead of hot ones. When you shower, it's not just the dirt on your skin that you're washing away. Water flowing over your body can have a purifying effect, beyond just cleaning your skin. It can also help relieve tension and anxiety.
  • Light an organic oil lamp: Burning an organic oil lamp with a cotton wick can help eliminate negative thoughts. Any organic oil will do, such as olive oil, linseed oil, rice oil, or sesame oil. Just burn a little lamp somewhere in the room where you sleep.
  • Practice a nightly yogic chant: If you're interested in yogic practices, consider practicing a chant before going to bed. This can help you relax and clear your mind before sleeping.
  • Remind yourself that you're not just your body: Spend at least 12-15 minutes reminding yourself that you're neither your body nor your mind. Just lie down and remind yourself that your body is not really you. It's just a temporary vessel for your use. If you're having trouble doing this, try linking it to your breath. Inhale and say "I'm not the body," exhale and say "I'm not the mind." Lie down for 12 minutes and do this until you fall asleep.
  • By following these tips, you can eliminate negative thoughts from your bedtime routine and improve your overall sleep quality. Remember, a good night's sleep is essential for good health and well-being.
